Teamwork! YEAH!

I love working with a team, don't get me wrong but when you start establishing "roles" and "titles" some people can just let that shit go straight to their head. Working as a whole unit or in a pipeline is something I love, seeing the work slowly develop and come together. I understand their being and AD and establishing a hierarchy in the work area, it's important to have  someone who can keep everyone on track. But, when you start waving you're "title card" around in peoples faces in order to establish dominance and authority then...

Process to DUSTLA Unleashed Orchestra Cover

Initial sketch

This was a very cool project. I had the chance to listen to the track a few times in advance to inspire me. I knew I wanted to make it an epic scene on a grand scale. Some of the earlier sketches revolved around "looking up" at a giant formation of some sort.
Later on Damian liked the idea of a mountain with a glowing logo a the top. I made sure to keep it atmospheric yet epic, reflecting characteristics of the track. This is final version was changed to what yo see now, we felt the logo looked weird skewed to the left like that.

Figure and gesture studies from yesterday's first Figure Drawing Session.
The lower page is studies of a figure I hope to put into a painting soon.

With this one called, "Cockpit," i played around with light and shadow color. Setting a chill mood, with the sun rays and scattering birds. I use some photo textures as noise and as a fill in. I didn't want to focus to hard on design, partially becasue it's no my strong suit -haha- but i just wanted to relax and have fun with it.

This is actually one of the sketches I did for the Mashup, but didn't get chosen. I personally like it becasue of the scale and atmosphere. I also used smooth complementary colors of purple and yellow.
If anything, I'll take this further on my own as a personal piece. The floating rock and design on it are the same as in "True Believer."

Art and Music

Towards the end of 2013 and the start of 2014 I contacted a bunch of labels that I like. I contacted about 30 and only a handful got back. Since most of the music I follow is EDM, a lot of their album covers are simple: a simple landscape with some color shifts and text. So after chatting up a few managers I got a few gigs. One specifically is leading towards more, which I'm really excited to show next. Here are the couple that I've done so far.

A cover for a FREE download mashup track composed of 7 producers. The logo on the top is the logo for the label, Dustla. I got the opportunity to listen to early versions of the track as I was working on this to fuel my inspiration. I really love the track, as it's unlike what most people are doing right now. I tried to reflect the epicness of the track in the artwork.

I did this as a quick illustration for a label called Xenomorph Recordings. It was used for one of their artist's EP.

And finally, doing the illustration for XaeboR lead to Med Dubstep, who asked me to zombify him. Was quite a fun project actually, haha =]
